This is memoir about writer and television producer Paul Henning - the creator of beloved shows Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

The book, written by his wife Ruth, tells the story of Henning's career in early radio and television and working with some of the biggest entertainers in his time.

Henning grew up in Independence and worked in Kansas City as did Ruth.

The book is unpublished 1994 manuscript found in the the Jackson County Historical Society archives.

The historical society has joined with Woodneath Press, an imprint of the Mid-Continent Public Library, to share the story of "the writer nobody knows."

The book is 291 pages and includes 8 pages of photographs and an epilogue by Carol Henning, their daughter.
